Delegation from Mexico meets Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bansal

NEW DELHI - The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Pawan Kumar Bansal here on Monday met a visiting parliamentary delegation from Mexico presently on a weeklong Study tour to India.
The nine-member delegation is led by their Senator, Carlos Jimenez Macias, President of the Committee on External Affairs, Asia Pacific in the Mexican Parliament.
Greeting the visitors Bansal apprised them about the Indian Parliamentary system - the advantages of a bicameral assembly structure; the role of Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs as the interface between government and the Opposition, the role of Chief Whips in ensuring smooth conduct of the House, etc.
Bansal hoped that this visit of the delegation would further strengthen the ties that India already enjoys with Mexico.
Carlos Jimenez Macias recalled their enriching experience of attending the sittings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Monday and he stated that the objective of the visit is to reinforce the links between legislators of India and Mexico.
Year 2010 marks the 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Mexico. (ANI)
