A look at Tyson’s 3Q performance by unit

Here’s a look at meat producer Tyson Foods Inc.’s third quarter by business unit:

CHICKEN: Revenue rose 4.6 percent to $2.53 billion. The company sold 8.1 percent more chicken in the quarter, although prices fell 3.2 percent.

BEEF: Revenue rose 13.4 percent to $3.15 billion. The beef unit sold 5.1 percent less product, but prices rose 19.5 percent.

PORK: Revenue rose nearly 32 percent to $1.25 billion. Pork volume edged up 0.1 percent, while prices rose 31.6 percent.

PREPARED FOODS: Revenue rose nearly 12 percent to $753 billion. The amount of product sold rose 1.4 percent, while the average price jumped 10.3 percent.
