NEVADA - Seeing Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen’s interest in things Hindu and Indian, Hindus have urged her to explore the rich philosophical thought of Hinduism.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that in addition to yoga and meditation, Hinduism was a superabundant storehouse of wisdom going back to ancient times. He or other Hindu scholars would be glad to help in her spiritual exploration if asked.
Said to be the world’s highest paid model, gorgeous Bundchen (The Devil Wears Prada), 30, reportedly kept herself in good shape during recent pregnancy with yoga and meditation and which resulted in her “very tranquil birth.” She also reportedly says that traditional Indian clothes “feel very comfortable and natural” and India’s “stories and culture are fascinating”. She reportedly loves sari (saree), popular female garment in Indian subcontinent with references going back to Indus Valley Civilization.
Website of her skincare line “Sejaa” says-The long “aa” sound at the end of the name is reminiscent of the sacred Hindu syllable “om,” which is essential to the yoga and meditation that keeps Gisele’s busy life centered. The Sejaa name is representative of our whole philosophy: To create products that not only nourish your skin, but your whole mind, body and soul.
Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, suggested B|ndchen that after the physical benefits of yoga, it was time now to explore the spiritual dimension of yoga because actually yoga was a mental and physical discipline by means of which the human-soul (jivatman) united with universal-soul (parmatman). As yoga was one of the six systems of orthodox Hindu philosophy, it would be further enlightening to take a look at the rest of the five schools also.
Hinduism is the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about one billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. (ANI)
