NEW DELHI - External Affairs Minister S M Krishna has written a letter to his Pakistani counterpart Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi and conveyed sincere condolences of the Government and the people of India, on loss of lives, due to the widespread floods in Pakistan.

“Krishna also said that he is distressed by the devastation caused by the natural calamity,” said a Ministry of External Affairs release.

Krishna’s condolence message came after floodwaters ravaged hundreds of villages in the province of Punjab today, which destroyed homes, soaked crops and threatened more lives.

This year’s monsoon season has resulted in heavy floods in Pakistan in living memory and already killed more than 1,500 people. (ANI)
