Centre released Rs. 4700 crore for modernisation of police forces since 2006-07

NEW DELHI - The Government on Wednesday informed that Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) released rupees 4,701.56 crore as central funds for the modernization of police forces (MPF) during the last four years (2006-07 to 2009-10).

In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs M. Ramachandran, said: “Presently funds for Modernization of State Police Forces are being provided under a Non-plan Scheme for Modernization of State Police Forces and not under any Eleventh Five year Plan Scheme,” the minister informed.

Giving Statewise details of the funds released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Minister informed for Andhra Pradesh, a sum of Rs.88.12 cr was released in 2006-07, 87.34 cr (2007-2008), 83.83 cr (2008-09) and Rs. 115.54 cr during 2009-10.

For Jammu and Kashmir a sum of Rs. 88.13 cr was released in 2006-07, Rs.115.34 cr (2007-2008), 109.65 cr (2008-09) and Rs.111.18 cr during 2009-10.

Whereas for Uttar Pradesh, a sum of Rs.94.28 cr was released in 2006-07, Rs.115.44 cr (2007-2008), Rs.102.31 cr (2008-09) and Rs. 125.17 cr during 2009-10.

He said for Chhattisgarh, a sum of Rs.57.06 cr was released in 2006-07, Rs. 41.72 cr (2007-2008), 26.54 cr (2008-09) and Rs.17.04 cr during 2009-10.(ANI)
