SRINAGAR - Restrictions were on Wednesday imposed on the movement of people in parts of Srinagar and Budgam districts prevent separatist sit-ins and protests.

According to sources, the hardline Hurriyat group, headed by Syed Ali Geelani, has asked people to protest against alleged human rights violations by the security forces in ashmir.

Authorities enforced restrictions on the movement of people in Nowhatta, Khanyar, Maharajgun, Safakadal, Rainawari, Soura, Parimpora, Batmaloo, Maisuma, Qmmerwari and Bemina in Srinagar and parts of Budgam district of central Kashmir.

Shops and educational institutions were closed and transport was off the roads.

Normalcy had returned to the Valley on Tuesday as the separatists allowed a break in their week-long shutdown programme in view of the Muslim festival of Shab-e-Barat.

At least 15 people have been killed in clashes between protesters and security forces since June 11. (ANI)
