Leaked Afghan war logs include capture of ‘Lady Al Qaeda’

NEW YORK - Afghan war logs leaked by the web site WikiLeaks include one classified document on Aafia Siddiqui, also known as ‘Lady Al Qaeda’, who has been convicted of attempted murder.
According to a July 2008 report, MIT graduate Siddiqui and a young boy were caught loitering in Ghazni City, and that she had in her possession chemicals, bomb-making instructions and a list of American targets stashed in her purse.
The woman was taken into custody, but managed to grab a weapon and fired on her interrogators, the dispatch stated.
The prisoner was then shot and wounded “in self-defense,” the dispatch stated.
The account, though brief, matched the government’s scenario when it tried and convicted Aafia Siddiqui earlier this year in Manhattan Federal Court.
The American-educated neuroscientist will be sentenced next month on attempted murder, weapons possession and other crimes for opening fire on the Americans who came to question her.
She was not charged with terrorism, and the judge barred any mention of the chemicals or Siddiqui’s supposed ties to Al Qaeda. (ANI)
