UIDAI signs MoU with Meghalaya Government

NEW DELHI - The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Meghalaya Government on Tuesday detailing the implementation of the UID Project in the State.
The MoU was signed between UIDAI DDG Davinder Kumar and Pankaj Jain, Resident Commissioner, Government of Meghalaya in the presence of UIDAI DG and MD R.S. Sharma.
The Government of Meghalaya has set up a State level Cabinet Committee on UID under the Chairmanship of the its Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and a State UID Implementation Committee under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, to oversee the implementation of the UID project in the state.
On the occasion, Sharma said: “The UIDAI cannot realize its objective of providing every Indian resident with Aadhaar (UID Number) without working in tandem with state governments.”
