Summary Box: Treasury prices slide on mixed data
MIXED DATA: A report showed that consumer confidence dipped in July, while home prices rose in May for the second straight month as federal tax incentives pulled more buyers into the market.
STRONG EARNINGS: DuPont raised its forecast and easily beat predictions for profit and revenue. European banks including UBS and Deutsche Bank also reported strong earnings.
TREASURY AUCTIONS: The government successfully auctioned $38 billion in two-year notes. The bid-to-cover ratio, a measure of demand, was 3.33, down from 3.45 for a similar auction last month.
