AHMEDABAD - Former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah will get a copy of the CBI’s chargesheet today, a day before he faces questioning by the agency.

Shah is an accused in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case and, the CBI will question him in judicial custody.

Shah on Monday had moved the special CBI court for bail, which said it would hear his plea on August 2. Veteran lawyer Ram Jethmalani will assist Shah’s advocates in the plead for bail.

The court has also granted permission to the CBI to interrogate Shah in judicial custody on July 28, 29 and 30 from 9 am to 5 pm.

The interrogation will be audio and video-taped.

Earlier, former Gujarat Deputy Superintendent of Police, M.K. Amin turned approver against Shah in connection with the fake encounter case.

Amin is one of the three main accused IPS officers involved in the encounter case. The other two are D.G. Vanzara, and R.K. Pandian.

Amin had submitted an application in this regard through his lawyer before a Gandhinagar court.

The move may help the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) solve the case.

On Friday, a CBI court in Gandhinagar rejected Shah’s anticipatory bail plea that he had filed through his lawyer to avoid arrest in connection with the fake encounter case.

The CBI has filed a 30,000-page charge sheet against Shah, accusing him of complicity in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.

Sohrabuddin and his wife Kausar Bi were killed in an alleged fake encounter in 2005. (ANI)
