US woman kicked off from plane to make room for overweight teen

MELBOURNE - A passenger was left shocked after she was asked to leave a plane so that an overweight passenger could occupy two seats.
The woman, who has asked her identity not to be revealed, said she was removed from her seat on a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Sacramento, US, last week so that a 14-year-old could have two seats.
“It didn’t seem right that I should have to leave to accommodate someone who had only paid for one seat,” News.com.au quoted the woman as telling the US’ Sacramento Bee.
According to her, when she protested, the airline staff acted rude and inconsiderate.
A spokeswoman for Southwest Airlines says it intends to apologise to the woman over the incident.
“We know this was awkward and we should have handled it better,” Marilee McInnis said.
McInnis said that the staff might have taken a quicker course of action to reduce embarrassment for the overweight passenger. (ANI)
