THE NEWS: Kraft is increasing the whole grain in more than 100 of its Nabisco crackers over the next three years.
THE EFFECT: Popular crackers like Ritz and Premium crackers will contain whole grains for the first time. The amount of whole grain in Wheat Thins will more than double and in Honey Maid graham crackers it will quadruple.
THE IMPORTANCE: Whole grains are considered a part of a healthy diet, adding necessary fiber and nutrients. Food makers say shoppers have been demanding healthier choices.
