LATEHAR - Suspected Maoists torched a coal mine in Jharkhand’s Latehar District on Saturday.
“Around 1 a.m. the Maoists came, and they started putting all the machines on fire. They left after lighting all the machines. They also beat up people and warned that without their order no work shall be carried out,” said Vinod Bhukhte, a security guard.
Meanwhile, four suspected Maoists were arrested near Salboni town of West Midnapore district in eastern West Bengal state.
Meanwhile Maoists set on fire cranes and other machines of Vijeta Constructions, a private road construction company, in Gaya district.
“The plant had closed down and almost all the equipment had been shifted to another location, nothing much was left. There were only a few machines and a few boulders. And so they did all this,” said Sanvalia Sharma, police station in-charge of Gurua police station.
Maoists say they are crusading against the prevailing political system and in cause of the poor and marginal farmers and landless labourers. (ANI)
