Mumbai, Kishangarh (Rajashthan),JUNAGARH - The collapse of government infrastructure has been exposed through the water-clogged drains and traffic snarls in Mumbai.

Normal life in the city was brought to a complete standstill on Sunday as a result.

“If it rains for half an hour more, water will enter the market also and we will have to close down our shops. There is no assistance from the government,” said Pundlik Jarandhe, a Mumbai resident.

Floodwaters have also submerged large swathes of land in Gujarat’s Junagarh District.

Hundreds of acres of agricultural land and many low-lying villages are submerged in floodwater.

“We are in terrible need of essential goods. The shops have been inundated and the roads to the nearest town are also blocked. We do not have anything to feed our children. I appeal to the government to help us,” pleaded Kiraben, a local of Junagadh.

A similar scene prevailed in the Kishangarh District of Rajasthan, where dozens of houses and livestock have been swept away by strong floodwaters. By Rithwick Bhalekar/ Kishor Solanki/ Uday Adharvayu (ANI)
