ANKLESHWAR - A major fire engulfed a chemical factory in the industrial township of Ankleshwar in Gujarat, killing two and injuring four labourers on Saturday morning.
Reports said fire in the Uma Organic and Chemicals factory started after recurrent blasts took place in three purification reactors inside the factory.
Within minutes the entire factory was burning in flames.
Twenty to 25 fire tenders rushed to the site and the fire fighters engaged themselves in fighting the flames and dousing the fire.
The fire service personnel fought the flames for over seven hours before the fire was completely doused.
“Initially the fire was on a major scale but we used all our resources and 90 percent things are now under control,” said Manoj Kotriya, In-charge, Fire and Safety Department.
Some blasts also took place, which had given a tough time to the firemen in controlling the inferno as blasts continued to occur in the reactor causing the fire to sustain. By Dharmesh (ANI)
