TARGET’S FIRST MANHATTAN STORE: Target is officially opening its first Manhattan store Sunday in East Harlem.

URBAN PUSH: Target is no newcomer to cities, but opening a store on the island firmly plants it in the urban market.

WHAT’S AHEAD: Target aims eventually to open another store in Manhattan, but it will be much smaller, 60,000 to 80,000 square feet. It plans to roll out that smaller format in its most densely populated markets across the U.S.
