NEW DELHI - The second day of Pearl’s Delhi Couture Week-2010 showcased a fantastic world of imaginary creatures in a realistic world in New Delhi.
The main collection was created by Indian fashion designer Gaurav Gupta.
Gupta said mystical magical creatures of the deep marines inspired him to come with this unique collection.
“The theme of our show was ‘Fantastical creatures’ like imaginary creatures of fairy tales shown in the realistic world. Those creatures living in under water space or in lost forest space. So this was the theme of our show,” said Gupta.
He also mentioned that Indian wedding outfits conceptualised by him are aimed at new edge brides.
“I love the intricacy in embroidery and I love coming up with new techniques. I am obsessive about innovation and new techniques, so it’s as simple as extending that into bridal wear and into embroidery into Indian wear. People usually come to us for cocktail outfit peripheral outfits for weddings in India but now it’s also that the bride’s that are changing so are we bit changing for the brides. So new edge bride in India is what we are looking at and we are defining that,” said Gupta.
Several celebrities and fashion divas from various parts of India are expected to be a part of this glamorous weeklong fashion extravaganza.
Pearl’s Delhi Couture Week 2010 will conclude on Sunday. (ANI)
