Heavy rains predicted in Delhi

NEW DELHI - Heavy rains are expected to hit the national capital in the next 48 hours, the met office warned Monday, a day when no rain was recorded despite cloudy sky for most part of the day.
On Monday, the maximum temperature was a notch below the average at 34.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum hovered around 29.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, an India Meteorological Department official said.
The humidity levels oscillated between a high of 75 percent and a low of 66 percent.
Despite the dark clouds over the city through the day, met office said, there was no rainfall Monday.
According to the official, the maximum and minimum temperatures in the next 24 hours will be 35 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius respectively.
The national capital has been experiencing hot and humid weather since last week.
Delhi has so far received 174 mm rain since the advent of monsoon July 5, almost 90 percent more than the average for this time of the year.
