BRISTOL (GaeaTimes.com)- In a recent development the American Eagle Foundation an entity which is known for rescuing and saving the eagle species in the USA has released an injured eaglet in Bristol. The poor bird got entangled in fishing net. The wings of the bird were damaged by a hook. The bird was treated by the entity and later was released near South Holston Lake adjacent to Bristol. However, before the organization had found the bird it was noticed by a teenager named Joe Slagle. The 17 year old teenager could feel the plight the young bird was in. The bird was found by the teenager close to the South Holston dam.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Jeff Brater brought the injured American eagle to Knoxville’s UT Veterinary College. Thereafter the bird was taken to the American Eagle Foundation. There it was kept under observation for a period of time. The bird was kept in an enclosure to ensure that it stays safe. One of its wings was badly injured leaving it unable to fly. The parents of the teenager also saw the condition of the bird and they also wanted to free it from the fishing line. A number of birds get injured or even killed by such fishing line every year.
The American Eagle was hungry and could not move. The bird was freed after its wings were back in shape. The doctors examined the wings and overall health of the bird before it was released. The staff at the American Eagle Foundation said that they hope the bird will have no problem in hunting or flying.
