SRINAGAR - Arms, ammunition and medicines were recovered from a militant hideout in the Beri Rakh forest, following gun-battle between security forces and militants in Poonch District.

“If you look at the manufacturing stamps on the recoveries, it clearly indicates that these people have infiltrated and have come from the Pakistan side. Till now we have eliminated two terrorists and the operation will continue,” said Sandeep Khajuria, an army officer on Sunday.

Khajuria further said that since the militancy started in Jammu and Kashmir, the Beri Rakh forest has been used as a hideout of its density and poor visibility.

The anti-militant operation was launched by the 37 Rashtriya Rifle (RR) troops on the basis of inputs received about the infiltration of 10 to 12 militants.

An Army major was killed and six other soldiers, including a colonel, suffered injuries, during the operation, which has entered its sixth day. (ANI)
