Tributes paid to five dead police personnel in Jharkhand

RANCHI - The district police of Latehar in Jharkhand presented a guard of honour to the five police personnel were killed in an ambush laid down by the Maoists in Barwadih region of Jharkhand on Friday.

“The men were returning after executing a raid and that’s when the incident took place. The Naxals used landmine blasts by which we lost five of our men and two others are critically injured,” said Niraj Kumar, Inspector General Of Police on Saturday.

Those killed in the ambush were Ashok Kumar, Mohan Kumar Neeraj, Gopal Lakra, Budhu Munda and Om Prakash Yadav.

The coffins of the police personnel were covered with the national flag as a token of respect.

Latehar Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Dwivedi, Palamau Deputy Inspector General of Police Prashant Singh and Rezi Dung Dung, Inspector General of Police, were present at the ceremony. (ANI)
