Special commando training for security forces to combat Maoists

BHOPAL - A Special commando-training programme is going on in Kerwa forest of Madhya Pradesh to train security forces against the Maoists.

Around 130 cadets of High force, Counter Terrorist Group (CTG), Special Task Force (STF) and Anti terrorist squad (ATS) are learning special techniques using high tech weapons.

The training in-charge says considering the mess created by Maoists in Chhattisgarh, the training programme has been initiated to deal with them.

“We are giving training to fight with Naxalites. If a person does not have any weapon and the attackers have then how to tackle the situation is the motive behind giving this training,” said Aniruddh Mishra, Training in-charge, Madhya Pradesh Police.

The main motive behind this training program is to equip the security forces to meet the challenge of naxalites in a better way.

“If we have to fight with naxalites in the forest then it is necessary for us to understand the forest, what is the situation inside the forests, its locations. During this training we learn about the forest and find out every detail of it. Also we are utilizing every situation which may occur during the war against naxalites or any terrorist group,” said Deepak Dubey, a trainer.

“In this training we are not using main roads. We are making our own way through forest. The naxalites attack only on the trucks, cars or other vehicles, which move from the roads inside the forest or outside. This is our main area of concern,” said Shakti Singh Thakur, a trainee.

The training will continue for two months.

Maoist attacks have increased this year, especially after the Government launched a coordinated security offensive involving tens of thousands of police trying to flush out the rebels from their jungle hideouts in central and eastern India. (ANI)
