SRINAGAR - Curfew was clamped in some areas of Kashmir Valley on Friday

ahead of a proposed march by separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani and his supporters.

Curfew was clamped in the Handwara and Baramulla areas of north Kashmir and Ganderbal on the outskirts of the city.

Restrictions were in place in almost all other parts of the valley.

Geelani called for the ‘Batamaloo Chalo’ march after Friday prayers from various areas of Srinagar to mourn the death of people killed in firing by security forces.

Security forces were deployed in the old city and uptown areas to prevent pedestrian and vehicular movement.

Traffic intersections have been blocked with coils of concertina wire.

At least 15 people were killed in clashes between protesters and security forces since June 11. (ANI)
