United Democratic Front organises anti-militancy meet

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - The Opposition United emocratic Front organised an anti-militancy meet in hiruvananthapuram on Thursday in the wake of new incidents of militancy in the region.

The Heads of religious institutions also participated in the meeting that was attended by political party leaders and workers.

The Opposition parties said they extend their support to the State Government in dealing with militant activities.

“We are all very proud about the communal harmony, which is prevailing in the State. But unfortunately some incidents are there, so we want to fight it out, not only the legal steps but with the support of the people,” said United Democratic Front leader Ommenchandy.

“The Government has to do their role. They must deal all these activities very firmly. We will give all support,” he added.

Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan on Wednesday announced the constitution of a special investigating agency to probe into cases pertaining to internal security.

The new agency will be called ‘Internal Security Investigation Branch’

“The government has decided to institute internal security investigation body that will conduct probe of all specific incidents. It will be headed by Superintendent of Police, and assisted by two Deputy Superintendents of Police. They will keep a watchful eye,” said Achuthanandan. (ANI)
