Shivshankar Menon reviews strategic partnership with US counterpart

NEW DELHI - National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon reviewed the status of the strategic partnership between India and the USA with his US counterpart Lt. General James L. Jones.

Jones’ visit to India is part of an institutionalized dialogue mechanism between National Security Advisers of India and the USA.

The two officials also reportedly discussed preparations for US President Barack Obama visit to India.

The discussions were described as positive, constructive and forward-looking.

Apart from bilateral relations, regional and global issues, including the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan, international terrorism, the global governance architecture and emerging threats to international security were also discussed.

Jones also called on Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Defence Minister A K Antony, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik. (ANI)
