LAHORE - Following reports of several of its personnel having links with proscribed terror organisations, the Punjab Police has issued directions to the Special Branch to monitor the activities of officials deputed at police stations across the province.

According to reports, the Punjab Police had received intelligence input regarding several police personnel maintaining links with terrorists and also facilitating them in their terror activities.

Sources said that intelligence agencies had informed concerned authorities that some officials were involved in leaking out information regarding the state’s policies and crackdown on militants to the extremists groups.

“The authorities had raided suspected places following the intelligence information, however, they found those places empty, as the ‘wanted’ men had escaped after receiving a phone call about the raid a while earlier,” The Daily Times quoted the intelligence report, as stating.

The intelligence report also shockingly revealed that several police personnel deployed in various cities were directly involved in covert activities and some even have their siblings involved in terror activities. (ANI)
