Jaipur district encounters water shortage

JAIPUR - Due to lack of rain in Rajashthan locals in Jaipur and nearby villages are complaining about the shortage of water and the hardships they have to bear to acquire it, for their daily needs.he people have to wait for hours to get their water supply from tankers.
“A person has to wait for about two to three hours to get water,” said Bhagwati, a villager.
Many are dependent entirely on tankers for water.
“We take water from tankers. We have to stay awake all night to get water,” said Salma, another villager.
Officials of the state Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) said that the administration is doing everything possible to meet the demands of the people.
They further added for future needs water would be brought by train from the Chambal River in Kota.
“In Jaipur, wherever there is a shortage of water we are supplying water through tankers, and digging new tube-wells. We are giving Inter-Zonal transfer and using every possible means to supply water,” said Agam Mathur, a Chief Engineer of PHED. (ANI)
