Pak Punjab police arrests 90 terror suspects in raids across province

LAHORE - Pakistan law enforcement agencies have arrested over 90 terror suspects having links with various banned extremist groups in a crack down across different districts of Punjab Province, which has witnessed several deadly terror strikes in the recent past.

According to reports, acting on directives of the Interior Ministry, the Punjab police launched a massive crack down in the province with special attention on South Punjab.

A senior Punjab police official said proscribed organisations such as the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP), which carried out the recent terror attacks under the aegis of Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) , are the main target of the crackdown.

Punjab Inspector General Tariq Saleem Dogar said that officials have been asked to seize objectionable graffiti and check the distribution of hate materials immediately, The Dawn reports.

All arrested suspects were later shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.

Sources said that a special branch of the Punjab Police have also been directed to submit a detailed report of suspected madrassas across the province and provide information to the police for conducting raids. (ANI)
