New scheme for cooking gas cylinder delivery launched

NEW DELHI - The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry of India launched on Tuesday a new ‘flexitime’ scheme of delivery of cooking gas cylinders.

Jitin Prasada, the Junior Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, launched the scheme here.

According to the scheme, customers can arrange for cooking gas cylinders to be delivered to their homes on the days and times they prefer.

“In metros, they (people) have time problem because people are working and they don’t get time to take the delivery (of cooking gas cylinder). So it is just about preferred time, preferred day and not date, and it is also not about breaking the queue. It is not about paying money and getting cylinder faster than normal people. You will be in the queue, and the normal people will be in the priority list if they have booked before. If there is backlog, normal people will be given delivery. The only thing that this scheme offers is the time you want the delivery, and the day you want it,” said Prasad.

Consumers need to register with the distributors of cooking gas cylinders and pay a modest fee for the special service.

If a customer misses the delivery for some unforeseen reason he would get it at the same time next day.

The scheme will be launched next week in other metro cities and within six months throughout the country. (ANI)
