MUMBAI - The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) on Tuesday announced that it was stopping the plying buses to Karnataka as fresh violence had broken out between people in both states over the Belgaum issue.

Television reports said that activists had burnt buses in both states over a demand that Belgaum be included in Maharashtra.

In separate incidents, buses were also attacked in Pune and Mumbai.

Following the incidents, the MSRTC said that buses would not ply to Karnataka for next two days.

A bus operated by the MSRTC was torched near Kittur on Monday. Three buses were stoned earlier in the day, sources said.

The MSRTC said that it has taken the decision to avoid damage to its buses. (ANI)
