SOLANG - The lush valley and verdant hills in Himachal Pradesh’s Solang valley is attracting a lot of tourists this year, with all visitors excited to try the new sport called Zorbing.
Zorbing is the recreation of rolling downhill in an orb, generally made of transparent plastic. Zorbing is generally performed on a gentle slope, but can also be done on a level surface, permitting more rider control.
The rider is strapped inside the transparent inflatable ball and then rolls down slope at speeds that can go as high as 40 kilometer per hour.
The thrilling experience is fast gaining popularity with youngsters and adults alike.
“Decided to try this in India, feel very different,” said Lena Drlova, a tourist from Russia.
The sport has drawn large crowds and organizers feel the relatively gentle slope of the valley poses little risk.
“Tourists are enjoying this activity. They are getting adventure, fun, everything. Response of zorbing ball in today’s date is very good. I feel Solang valley slope is perfect for zorbing,” said Subhash Thakur, a local.
“Tourists can enjoy this activity, as there is no risk. Slope is not so steep that it causes problems to tourists,” he added. (ANI)
