World Population Day Events In India

NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- It seems that the fashion fraternity of India is waking up to the population problem of India and is trying to do its bit to address the issue. The leading Indian fashion designers and page 3 hoppers have started an initiative on the eve of the world population day to deal with the population problem of the country. Tanisha Mohan who is a Delhi based fashionista is an example in this regard. She along with her spouse Robby Mohan have stated doing their bit. They have adopted a village near Delhi where they are trying to educate the residents about the importance of keeping the population under check. She also said recently that India following the footsteps of China should implement population law.
Ankur Modi an artist is using his art medium to send the message of overcrowding. The United Nations Development Programme started World Population Day in the year 1989. Since the British rule India has seen a threefold hike in population till date. The main reasons of this dramatic rise are superstition, lack of family planning and health awareness, ignorance among the rural lot etc.
Neeru Kumar, a National Institute of Design graduate and reputed designer said that the education level among the residents of rural regions needs to be increased. Hemant Khandelwal a Fashion photographer thinks that the government should take active steps to curb the problem, immediately. If the population is not kept in check in near future it may lead into other serious social problems. There are a number of events being arranged to increase awareness on the eve of World population day.
