Regularise contractual bank officers: Sushma Swaraj
By ANISaturday, July 10, 2010
NEW DELHI - Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Saturday demanded regularisation of officers hired by national banks on a contractual basis.
Addressing a national seminar in the national capital for the ‘empowerment of unorganized workers and role of banking officers’ working with the State Bank of India (SBI), Swaraj said the contractual officers were crucial contributors to the development of rural regions.
“If agriculture is permanent, farmer is permanent and policies are permanent then the bridge between the farmers and the banks should also be made permanent and not temporary,” said Swaraj.
Swaraj assured the participants that she would raise the issue in the Parliament.
“I will give you an assurance that in the next session of the parliament beginning on July 26, we will raise this issue. We will raise it by the calling attention motion as well as the special motion. We will see to it that the finance minister gives some kind of assurance on the floor of the Parliament,” she added.
The conference was organised by Miracle Aasra, a non-profit organisation. (ANI)
