Militants attack security forces in Sopore

SRINAGAR - Amid the ongoing turmoil in the Kashmir Valley, militants launched a series of attacks on security forces in Sopore.
Three attacks were launched by suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba militants in North Kashmir in which two policemen were injured.
The militants throw grenades and followed it by heavy firing which was effectively retaliated by the security personnel. No one was injured.
The second incident took place at 1.30 a.m. at main crossing of the city in Sopore, which left an Indian Reserve police person injured.
The third incident took place on Sopore-Baramulla road at 2. 30 a.m when militants fired on police vehicles, leaving one of the drivers injured.
The situation in the Valley has been tense for the past few weeks due to repeated clashes between protestors and security forces. (ANI)
