Azad to flag off World Population Day run

NEW DELHI - Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad will on Sunday flag off a run for population stabilization involving 3000 children from various schools of the national capital on World Population Day.

The children will congregate at Vijay Chowk in front of the Rashtrapati Bhawan at 6.45 a.m. on Sunday morning and will run till the India Gate.

Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit will be the chief guest for the occasion.

The Jansankhya Sthirtha Kosh is organising this run in partnership with the Delhi Government.

The theme of the 2010 World Population Day is ‘Everyone Counts’, which underscores the importance of data for development.

The government is viewing this as an excellent opportunity for spreading awareness and advocacy on the issue of population stabilization. (ANI)
