Summary Box: Stocks rise for 3rd day on jobs news
THIRD CLIMB: Stocks rose for a third straight day Thursday after the government reported a larger than expected drop in the number of newly laid-off people seeking unemployment benefits last week.
DOW RUNS: The Dow Jones industrials rose 121 points after advancing 275 Wednesday and rising modestly Tuesday. The 4.7 percent gain is the best three-day move since mid-May.
IMPROVED FORECAST: The International Monetary Fund boosted confidence after it raised its world growth estimate for the year to 4.6 percent from 4.2 percent.
