SRINAGAR - Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday night called an all-party meeting on Monday to discuss the volatile situation in the state where the army has been called in to stage marches in curfew-bound towns to restore law and order, an official said.
Abdullah has called the meeting to “seek a common approach” to the problem in the state as strict curfew continued in major towns for the past two days following violent protests over deaths of people in security forces firing.
Meanwhile, Mehbooba Mufti, president of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a statement appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to personally intervene in Kashmir to address the extremely volatile situation here.
