Nepal airport to be connected to Interpol

KATHMANDU - Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu is set to be connected to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol)’s database link.
The move would help security personnel and Immigration Department officials at the poorly-equipped airport to figure out wanted criminals traveling in Nepali airspace.
Nepal Police Spokesperson Yadav Raj Khanal said that preparations were underway to make the link possible.
“It will help Nepali security personnel to nail criminals listed in Interpol’s wanted list. Nepal police can also share its database with other member countries that help Interpol nab Nepali criminals traveling abroad,” Xinhua news agency quoted Khanal, as saying.
Earlier in 2008, Interpol had voiced support for Nepal in controlling criminal activities. (ANI)
