CM Shiela Dikshit releases book on Delhi’s Political History

NEW DELHI - Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit on Thursday released a book titled “Capital Phenomenon—a Political History of Delhi: 1998-2009″ penned down by a senior journalist Siddharth Mishra.
The book is compilation of the author’s own weekly column “Reporters’ Notebook” being carried by the English daily ‘The Pioneer’ regularly for the last one decade.
“The book is a wonderful history of our times, which might have in somewhat caused embarrassment to me, but I accept it with humility,” said Dikshit describing the author as an experienced reporter, who has observed Delhi politics minutely.
She further stated that the book came to her as a great surprise and gave her much relief of not being interviewed.
“Siddharth Mishra’s ability to effortlessly connect the process of social change with political evolution has been the hallmark of his writings,” she added.
“The Chief Minister has been running an open government and has also provided reasonable access to the journalists. She has emerged as a powerful leader,” said Mishra describing the period from 1998 to 2009 as an era of a positive change.
“The book is an account of overcoming difficult situations, continuous social change and political will power,” he added.
The author further stated that Delhi is undergoing a remarkable facelift, the credit for which goes to the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.
Member of Parliament Sandeep Dikshit, MLA Dr. Harsh Vardhan, MLA Vijay Jolly and Prof Subroto Mukherjee, Former Professor of Political Science, University of Delhi were also present on the occasion.
