CHANDRAPUR - Villagers living on the periphery of Tadoba National Park in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district have turned a troubled lot after a wild bear entered their village on Saturday.
Villagers said the bear broke into the village from the National park and since than injured as many as seven people.
Efforts by the villagers and officials of the Forest Department to catch the animal hadn’t succeeded till last reports were received.
Villagers rued that that the animals in the nearby forests have been causing massive damage to them for a long time.
As per some media reports, an old and ailing tigress attacked in the same region on Friday and left a man seriously injured.
Deforestation is the prime cause leading many animals to move outside the barren jungles in search of food.
Consequently, villages in the nearby areas become the prime targets.
Local residents lament that despite repeated calls, the forest department has not paid any attention to such problems. (ANI)
