New York (GaeaTimes.com)- Joey Chestnut won Nathan’s 95th famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, New York for the fourth consecutive time yesterday, when America celebrated its Independence Day. Joey Chestnut consumed 54 hot dogs in just 10 minutes but he could not break his last year’s record of consuming 68 hot dogs in just 10 minutes. He along with the title won a mustard yellow belt and $30,000.
Joey Chestnut, after the contest was over said that he was excited to get his prize as a winner. He mentioned that “it’s the Fourth of July” and he had fun eating hot dogs. It was dazzling afternoon with scorching heat where the temperature went up-to 90 degrees. The winner later said that he stopped drinking water from the morning, hence he was a bit dehydrated before going to the stage. he admitted that he was slower than he wanted to be as he hoped to eat atleast 69 to 70 hot-dogs before the contest. The second runner up was Tim Janus who managed to have only 45 hot dogs.
Joey Chestnut sounded confident after he won the contest as he said if anybody else was there, he would have beaten him as well. However, this year Tareku Kobayashi could not compete because he had issues about the contracts with event’s organizer Major League Eating. He was taken into the custody and charged with resisting arrest, trespassing and obstruction of Governmental affairs. Joey Chestnut later told about Tareku Kobayashi that if latter was a “real man” then he would be on the stage and the winner could not find any reason for previous six times champion’s absence.
