Sandalwood worth over a million seized in Darjeeling

DARJEELING - Sandalwood worth over Rs. one crore has been seized from two trucks in West Bengal’s Darjeeling District on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip, officials of the Directorate of Revenue stopped trucks in the Ghoshpukur area and seized 12 tonnes of sandalwood.
The drivers of the Mizoram-bound trucks were arrested.
“Two trucks have been seized with sandalwood. We are labours and we are emptying the truck and putting them in the godown. It has white cement bags also. We are unloading it and putting it in the godown,” said Maninder Paswan, a godown labour working for the Directorate Of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Department. (ANI)
