Hindus support Italy classroom crucifixes if accompanied by symbols of other religions

NEVADA - Hindus support the idea of Italy having crucifixes in classrooms as long as same size symbols of other religions are also displayed alongside.

Italy is reportedly appealing to the European court of human rights to overturn the ban on classroom crucifixes.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that diversity in Italy was increasing and besides Catholic majority, it has considerable communities of Protestants, Orthodox and other Christian denominations; Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jews, Baha’is, atheists, etc.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, argued that opening-up the Italy children to major world religions and non-believers’ viewpoint would make them well-nurtured, well-balanced, and enlightened citizens of tomorrow. It also made a good business sense to know the beliefs of “others” in a global community.

Moreover, students should have knowledge of the entire society to become full participants in the European community.

Rajan Zed further said that as a dominating majority in Malta, Catholics had a moral responsibility to take care of minority brothers/sisters from different faith backgrounds. (ANI)
