Summary Box: Treasury prices end mainly higher

LATE RISER: The price of the 10-year Treasury note rose late in the day after the stock market stumbled.

STRONG QUARTER: A day after falling below 3 percent for the first time in more than a year, the yield on the 10-year note edged down slightly to 2.94 percent. That’s about one full percentage point below the high level of 4 percent it reached in early April.

THE SAFETY PLAY: Investors have been piling into Treasurys in the second quarter to avoid turmoil on the stock market and as Europe struggled to contain a sovereign debt crisis.
