Summary Box: June auto sales seen slowing from May
JUNE BLUES: Forecasters are predicting U.S. auto sales will fall by double digits in June compared with May. If they do, it will be the steepest monthly drop since January. Automakers report sales Thursday.
WHAT’S HAPPENING?: Consumers, anxious about the economy, are being more cautious than expected about expensive purchases such as homes and cars.
BUYER’S MARKET: The slower sales could have an upside for consumers. Look for more rebates, lease deals and low-interest financing.
