Police arrest two Maoist leaders in Jharkhand

KHUNTI - Jharkhand Police has arrested two zonal level Maoist leaders and recovered ample quantity of arms, ammunitions and assorted items from their hideout in the state’s Khunti District.
The two arrested on Saturday have been identified Santosh Munda alias Chaitan Munda and Bipul Lohra.
Khunti Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Kaushik said that the arrested Maoists had been involved in criminal activities and creating social unrest in recent past.
“These Maoists status is of sub-zonal commander and all activities of the Communist Party of India -Maoist (CPI-M) are being are being carried out in the name of Santosh Munda and his area of operation are Bundu, Arki and Tamat,” said Kaushik said.
Kaushik also said that the two were involved in the murder of former Khunti MLA Ramesh Singh Munda and also the robbing of Rs. 50 million from ICICI Bank.
Bombs, rifles, 285 gelatine sticks, detonators, mobile phone and Rs. 50,000 in cash were also recovered from the Maoists hideout. (ANI)
