SIMDEGA - Suspected Maoist on Monday killed two villagers in Jharkhand’s Simdega District.

The Maoists tricked the two into going to a nearby jungle, and later shot them and threw their bodies at a crossroads.

“Maoists took victims away saying that they have some work with them and even victims did not think that there was anything wrong, and even the people nearby did not realize that anything like this can happen, or that Maoists belonged to any group,” said Varun Kumar, Simdega Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO).

“After some time, victims went with them. Half-an-hour later, Maoists called victims’ families at around 10 pm. They told their families to not inform the police. Their aim was to create terror. When they called for the last time at around 10.30 pm, they said that the victims had not listened to them, and that’s why they killed them,” he added.

Police officials found a letter in which it was written that the victims were members of a militant group called the Jharkhand Liberation Tigers (JLT), and were police informers. (ANI)
