SRINAGAR - At least two youths were killed in two different incidents of violence in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Security forces opened fire to disperse mobs indulging in stone pelting in Baramulla and Sopore Districts.
According to police, Tariq Ahmed Rather, 20, was killed at Delina locality outside Baramulla town Monday afternoon.
Rather was part of a mob proceeding towards Sopore which was intercepted by the security forces.
He succumbed to bullet injury while being taken to Baramulla hospital, police said.
The security personnel opened fire as the mob started throwing stones at them.
Earlier in the day, another youth was killed in firing as an agitated mob flouted curfew restrictions in north Kashmir’s Sopore town.
A senior police officer said the victim was identified as Tajamul Ahmad Bhat, of Wadoora in Sopore. Bhat succumbed to bullet injury at the Sopore hospital.
Tension continued for the fourth day in Sopore. The administration had imposed curfew since Friday after two youths were killed during a police firing. (ANI)
