DEHRADUN - Dehradun known for its military training is now emerging as a world-renowned sword market.

Swords manufactured here are not available in the Indian local markets.

Dehradun swords are made on order and exported to the European countries and the US.

“These swords would not be available anywhere in the local markets of India. They are manufactured and exported to Europe and America,” said Puranand Bahuguna, an artisan.

These are also used in Hollywood.

Various Hollywood movies like ‘The Mummy Returns’ and ‘Spartan’ have used them.

“It is good to see that our swords are being used in Hollywood films. The movie ‘The Mummy Returns’ has also used the swords which were manufactured here,” he added.

The US and the British armies too use Indian made swords for their ‘Ceremonial Parades’. (ANI)
