PHILADELPHIA (GaeaTimes.com)- SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) has finally entered into a five-year contract which shall soon rename Pattison Avenue Subway Station to AT & T Station. Reportedly, the agreement between SEPTA and AT and T is worth $5 million.

According to the agreement, SEPTA is entitled to receive a total amount of $3 million for renaming Pattison Avenue Subway Station To AT & T station that is located at the southern end of Broad Street line. The new name will be effective from the month of August in the current year. It was also declared in the agreement that SEPTA’s advertisement handler namely ‘Titan Outdoor’ shall receive $2 million which shall cover all the changes made in the subway station. Dan Lafond who happens to be the Vice President and General Manager for AT & T in Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and Southern New Jersey told the media that the change is necessary to mobilize each and everything and bring together one and all with a better connectivity.

Former SEPTA rider Jerry Silverman has proposed the board to keep a part of the original name “Pattison”. As an argument for his proposal, he had cited a similar change in the name for New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Barclays which took place in the year of 2009. Jerry Silverman told the media that he had been associated with SEPTA for years and thus he is concerned about the change in the name. In his opinion, extreme care should be taken while changing the name so that the riders aren’t confused. He referred the entire thing as a “dangerous precedent” and said that SEPTA should be careful about its actions.
